This is a wheel thrown vessel, incised and decorated with oxide stain. It is glazed with a satin white glaze and fired to cone 10. It can hold its own as a decorative object, be at its best in a grouping, or provide a stunning functional container for an orchid or bunch of tulips. Lori Bartman has studied ceramics as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, and then earned an MFA from Tyler School of Art. Her work in clay moves fluidly between functional and nonfunctional works, and incorporates hand building, wheel throwing, and slip-casting.
