By Grace Gittelman and Eleanor Goeglein Frick
October 11, 2024 - November 11, 2024

2024 Artist Fellowship Exhibition
Presented by Jewish Museum of Chicago, in partnership with Buddy
The Jewish Museum of Chicago, in Partnership with Buddy, is pleased to announce our final recipients of the 2024 Artist Fellowships - Grace Gittelman and Eleanor Goeglein Frick

Paired together by the Jewish Museum, Grace and Eleanor will share their two-person exhibition, “The Dybbuk in the Mirror” at Buddy, Chicago Cultural Center from October 11 - November 11, 2024, 11 AM - 5 PM daily

Exhibition Description:
Rather than crossing a threshold, what happens if you linger? Frick and Gittelman’s weavings and ceramics haunt the boundary between past and present, living and dead, existence and void. Their artworks reflect a shared curiosity in mining the truth of the unknown, inviting audiences to peer through the fog of conformity. By having tea with the golem in the closet, one confronts the sour and the sweet of becoming.

The Exquisite Golem Workshop
Closing Reception and No-Cost Community Art Program
October 27, 12-2PM
At Buddy, Chicago Cultural Center

Workshop Description: In Jewish mythology the role of the Golem-monster is that of a protector. This all-ages monster-making workshop, inspired by the Surrealist “Exquisite Corpse,” breathes joyful collaboration and life into what can be a monstrous and forbidding topic. The workshop concludes with a raffle of golems, created by our artist fellows, with all proceeds donated to an organization working for aid and liberation in Palestine.

Access information: All Jewish Museum Events are masks required. There will be an air filter and a large circulated HVAC system at all Buddy events and free masks. Masking will be strongly encouraged to the public at the Chicago Cultural Center, but can’t be enforced throughout the building.
