‘from a sketch’ is a short book of drawings and poems by 2 side south brothers. The sketches from Mark Crisanti, the poems, written for them by Paul Crisanti. The drawings were made spontaneously as were the written reactions to them. Though both attending art school for a short time, the artists are basically self-taught.

The idea for the book came to Paul when he saw one of his youngest brother Mark’s drawings. He said he was in the habit of doing one every morning before going to work. He said he never starts with a preconceived idea, but rather just whatever comes to mind or allows his hand to follow. After offering to scan all of Mark’s drawings, Paul decided to challenge himself by selecting a small group of them and writing a short piece for each. That collection became the “from a sketch” series.
