The Renaissance Society
(Hyde Park)
Founded in 1915 on Chicago’s South Side, the Renaissance Society is a non-collecting museum that presents contemporary art exhibitions, performances, events, and publications. Since its inception, the Renaissance Society’s mission has been to work with artists on their most ambitious projects, together pushing the boundaries of what art can be and what it can do.
The Ren has exhibited key solo exhibitions by artists including Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Kara Walker, and Mike Kelley, as well as Chicago-based artists such as Laura Letinsky, Richard Rezac, Max Guy, and Isabelle Frances McGuire.
