"Sunraiser" is a delicate and hopeful track released in support of our 2024 Sunraising campaign, launched to rebuild our printshop. The record was initially included as a perk for folks who donated, but now we’re sharing it far and wide. The tune was tracked in the summer of 2021 in our Rockwell studio, just a few months before packing up shop. Captured in a single take, the song is a reminder that building momentum takes a balance of rhythm and open-ended improvisation.

Sonnenzimmer is the collaborative practice of artists Nick Butcher & Nadine Nakanishi. They began working together in the early 2000’s combining their love for visual art, typography, graphic design, printmaking, and music in the form of screen printed concert posters. Their graphic practice has grown to include exhibitions, publishing, performance, commissioned graphic design, and music. Through each of these respective outputs, their core concern remains. They have come to view graphics as a fluid social membrane that allows humanity to think together beyond the individual. They view graphics as an augmented collective reality that each of us lay claim to. Their work seeks to illuminate and make sense of this space.
