This work is slip cast porcelain. The mold used is created by carving individual pieces of plaster which are then assembled to create the desired form for each casting. Though related, no two forms in the series are identical.

Lori Bartman has studied ceramics as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley, and then earned an MFA from Tyler School of Art. Her work in clay moves fluidly between functional and nonfunctional works, and incorporates hand building, wheel throwing, and slip-casting.
