The Lucky Trikes
(Rogers Park)

The Lucky Trikes is a literacy chamber band formed in 2014 by co-artistic directors Deirdre Harrison and Kyle Gregory Price. The band performs live and streamed storytimes with improvised and composed music played by a long, wide rotating roster of Chicago improvisers, jazz and new music artists. The Trikes perform mostly in accessible public spaces such as the city's libraries, schools, major museums, parks, cultural centers and street festivals. The Lucky Trikes are proud members of the Chicago Literacy Alliance and work in partnership with a number of its members to bring Little Free Libraries and multigenerational literacy events to Chicago's west side. Both of their albums, We Are the Lucky Trikes (2017) and Listen! Listen! Listen! (2021) were developed and recorded with support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency, Jimmy Beans Coffee, and Timeless Toys. Their 2021 series of videos was produced by Bg Dipper Projects, Inc. with support from the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs. The band were presenters on somatic storytelling for the 2021 STRUT Social Emotional Learning Virtual Summit.
