Mariel Harari (Pilsen)
Mariel Harari is an artist with a background in fiber, installation, video and performance art. She brings the visual language developed in her artwork to her namesake line of clothing and accessories. Mariel Harari centers bold color and hand crafted details. Each piece features a range of intimate techniques such as woven, crocheted, beaded or quilted embellishments and hand painted fabric. Mariel Harari is committed to producing sustainably and ethically. She makes work in small batches to avoid over production and uses a mix of organic fabrics and non toxic inks as well as repurposed materials often from past art projects. Harari earned her Bachelors in Studio Art from Skidmore College, where she received the Marguerita Mergentime Award in Fiber Art. She has exhibited her work nationally in New York, Chicago, Florida and Connecticut. Her work has been reviewed in publications including Brooklyn Magazine, the Surface Design Association and Scapi Magazine. Harari was a sponsored artist at High Concept Labs and an artist in residence at Annas Projects, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts and the Vermont Studio Center. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.
