COLORSCAPES was a multisite exhibition by the Chicago-based art collective Luftwerk for Cheekwood Estate & Garden, Nashville TN. The exhibition used color to explore the perception of the physical world and consisted of a series of dynamic outdoor and indoor works set along a prescribed path. This booklet is the companion guide to learn more about the history of color theory and its relation to Nature.

Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero, aka known as Luftwerk, sculpt spaces using light, color, and texture. Their work has been exhibited widely at sites and museums including: Chicago’s Millennium Park, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House and Fallingwater, Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth and McCormick House, Barcelona Pavilion, Marcel Breuer’s designed Central Library of Atlanta, the Mattress Factory, MASSMoCA, Cheekwood in Nashville and currently at the Chicago Cultural Center. Awards include NEA Media Art Award, Illinois Arts Council Fellowship, a CODA award for integration of commissioned art in a public setting, and three projects honored by the American for the Arts Public Art Network.
