Shaker style stools with hand-dyed and woven fabric seats in various patterns and colors, with traditional post and rung wooden joinery. Ash and white oak wood comes from the Lathrop Homes on the near north side that is currently being restored and developed as mixed income housing. Bluestem Building & Restoration is a design/build worker-owned cooperative based in Chicago's historic Lathrop Homes, former low income housing recently renovated into mixed income homes. They specialize in fine woodworking, carpentry, art installation, and historic restoration of residential and commercial spaces. In addition to commissioned work, Bluestem is committed to social engagement by developing and collaborating in community-motivated projects and educational programs.
